Since 2009, Capital City Books has offered unique books by talented authors to the Richmond community. It's with no small amount of sadness that we officially announce our closing, effective May 1, 2012. We are no longer accepting manuscripts for publication review, but we are still proudly offering our books for sale on this website, amazon.com and barnesandnoble.com; please support Virginia authors by purchasing our books. Many thanks to our authors, readers, fellow publishers, booksellers and others who have helped make Capital City Books a successful indie publishing house.
Publishing a successful, engaging book involves an imaginative, strategic collaboration between a team of creative minds--author, editor, graphic designer, marketing specialist, publisher, and book sellers. We think like craftspeople during the book publishing process, attending to even the smallest details of each phase. Readers notice, and they come back to read with us again.

As a member of the Independent Book Publishers Association, we are proud to be part of a community of other book publishing professionals working to advance the art and craft of book publishing. As part of this community, we are constantly learning and innovating--getting ready to enter the e-book market, using different printing technologies, experimenting with new marketing techniques, and working to publish books that are not only well-written but also aesthetically pleasing.
It takes enormous courage to write. The idea of transcribing one's thoughts onto the page can be a scary one. We take pride in helping writers of every ability level and genre sculpt their work into its best possible form.
For the past three years, we have helped numerous individuals, organizations and businesses express their thoughts and ideas through various writing services, including ghostwriting, many levels of editing, and writing coaching. We are writers at heart, and understand the complex nature of the craft.
